Woman in Gurnee sex toy case ordered to alcohol rehab
The Gurnee woman accused of attacking a police officer with a sex toy was ordered to be interviewed at an alcohol rehabilitation center.
Carole Bildsten, 56, appeared in court Thursday before Associate Judge Brian Hughes.
She has pleaded not guilty to a felony aggravated DUI charge from September and to misdemeanor charges of aggravated assault and theft of labor charges from an incident in November.
Bildsten had posted bond after she was arrested for allegedly running out on a restaurant bill and then attacking a police officer with a sex toy.
She was remanded to county custody late last month for violating bond conditions. She tested positive for alcohol in her system twice in one week, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Scott Turk.
On Thursday, Hughes signed an order allowing Bilsdesten to be taken to an intake interview at Lake County Health Department’s Women’s Residential Services on Feb. 9, Turk said. WRS is a residential treatment faciltiy for chemically dependent women and their children.
The residential unit has 16 beds and a waiting time of eight to 12 weeks, according to Health Department spokeswoman Leslie Piotrowski. Priority listing is given to parents, expectant mothers and individuals in the criminal justice system.
Bildsten remains in custody at Lake County Jail. She will be taken to the center for treatment as soon as a bed is available, Turk said.
