A woman who went missing more than two years ago from her Far South Side home was found dead in a drain pipe Wednesday morning in the Morgan Park neighborhood.

The woman was identified Friday as 32-year-old Latashia Nevitt, who had last been seen on Oct. 10, 2011, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office and police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien.

A water department employee found her body inside a drain pipe about 10:45 a.m. in the area of West 107th Place and South Loomis Street, just down the block from her home in the 1300 block of West 107th Street, authorities said.

Nevitt was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:45 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Friday was inconclusive pending further studies, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area South detectives are investigating.
