A man has been charged with firing a paintball gun at people on the South Side on Thursday — a prank that went wrong when somebody shot his acquaintance with a real gun.
Jason Wells, 39, of the 7500 block of South Union was charged with one count of possession/discharging of an air rifle, a misdemeanor, police said.
Wells and a 21-year-old man are accused of firing a paintball gun at people on Halloween.
The other man was shot with a real gun about 7:40 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Emerald, police said. He was hospitalized and had not yet been charged with shooting the paintball gun.
Wells will appear in court Dec. 2 at Branch 34 at 51st and Wentworth.
