Second man dies from Oct. 14 shooting on the South Side

A man who was shot in the head Oct. 14 on the South Side died Saturday.

Robert Murphy III, 30, of the 7900 block of South Escanaba Avenue, is the second person to die from the shooting that followed an argument in the 800 block of East 82nd Street.

The other victim was 49-year-old Anthony Williams.

On Thursday, Terry “T-Bone” Burnett was ordered held without bail in the death of Williams, who was riding in a black Chevrolet Impala that Murphy was driving when the two men were shot.

Burnett, of Harvey, was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery, according to the police.

Williams and Murphy were stopped at South Maryland Avenue when Burnett walked up, “raised a loaded firearm and fired that gun into the car at both victims,” according to court documents.

Four or five shots were fired, striking Williamson in the back and Murphy in the head.

Williamson, of the 8700 block of South Ashland Avenue, was dead at the scene.

Murphy kept driving east on 82nd Street until he lost control and crashed into three parked cars near Drexel Avenue.

Two witnesses identified Burnett, according to court documents.
