Two jars were discovered outside a Little Village apartment building containing what appears to be human fetuses.
An employee of a nearby business found the two jars wrapped in a plastic bag outside the building in the 2500 block of South Harding about 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
“It looks like an employee from the business was out front when he saw a plastic bag that contained what he thought were human fetuses,” said police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.
A spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said the jars did not appear to contain scientific samples.
An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday to determine if the fetuses were, in fact, human, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.
So far, police are not treating the discovery as a criminal matter, Estrada said.
