Twenty-nine teens were charged with mob action following a fight at a Far South Side high school Tuesday morning.
Police were first called to Percy L. Julian High School, at 10330 S. Elizabeth St., about 10 a.m. to respond to a large fight, according to police.
Officers were able to bring the disturbance under control and arrested a total of 29 people -- three females and 26 males, police said.
All of the teens have been charged as juveniles with one count each of mob action, police said.
“Today’s incident at Julian High School was quickly resolved thanks to swift action taken on the part of Julian High School staff, CPD and CPS, and all classes and activities resumed as normal,” Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Becky Carroll said in a news release.
“The education and safety of our students are our top priorities, and CEO Byrd-Bennett has provided Julian with additional support and security staff today and throughout the week to ensure that the learning environment for our students and staff remains a safe one,” Carroll said.
Officials said no students or staff members were hurt.
