A 21-year-old DePaul University student was attacked about a block from the school’s Lincoln Park campus Wednesday night.
The woman was walking on Sheffield near Altgeld about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday when someone walked up and struck her with a blunt object, said Bob Wachowski, DePaul’s director of public safety.
The suspect did not try to rob the woman and fled after the attack, Wachowski said.
Paramedics took the victim to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was treated for a head injury, Wachowski said.
The university notified the community by sending out an email and posting alerts on the front doors of campus buildings, Wachowski said.
Chicago Police could not provide further information.
