Man who assaulted woman in Uptown claimed he was cop

Updated: October 16, 2013 7:35AM

Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman earlier this month in the Uptown neighborhood on the North Side.

On Oct. 4, the woman was walking in the 4700 block of North Clark when a man driving a large, dark-color SUV approached her about 1 a.m. and identified himself as a police officer, according to a community alert from Area North detectives.

The man told the woman he noticed someone following her and that she should get in his SUV for safety, police said. He later sexually abused her when he forced her to exit the vehicle so he could “search” her.

Anyone with information can call detectives at (312) 744-8261.
