A man, a woman and a dog were wounded in a drive-by shooting Wednesday afternoon in the New City neighborhood on the South Side.
A gunman in a gray SUV opened fire at a group of people standing in the 5000 block of South Peoria about 4:35 p.m., Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
A 21-year-old woman was shot in the right arm and a 25-year-old man was struck in the left leg, police said. They were taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center in good condition, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Juan Hernandez said.
Authorities said a dog was shot in the paw, and member of the police Animal Care and Control unit will care for the wounded animal.
Nobody was in custody, police said. Area South detectives are investigating.
