Man dies after West Side attack last year

A man who was found beaten and bleeding on the sidewalk in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood 15 months ago died Thursday.
Heliodoro Gill, 53, of the 4200 block of West Armitage, had been hospitalized since the beating. He was pronounced dead at 4:12 a.m. Thursday at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Gill was found bleeding from the head in the 1500 block of North Kedvale Avenue about 3:30 a.m. June 19, 2012, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
He said it appeared that Gill had been struck from behind.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, according to the medical examiner’s office.
No one was in custody. Area North detectives were investigating.
