Man shot to death near Evanston Township HS

EVANSTON – A 21-year-old Evanston man was shot to death outside his home Tuesday night, roughly one block from the campus of Evanston Township High School.

Investigators found Cardereon Preister lying face down in the 1700 block of Leland Avenue, near the northwest corner of the school grounds.

Preister was taken to Evanston Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:25 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Evanston police launched an investigation, but a spokesman for the department could not be reached for comment early Wednesday.
