Charges against a Matteson man were upgraded after a former lover he allegedly shot over the spring died.

David Twine, 32, shot Kyle Arrington while Arrington was at his building in the 9900 block of South Walden on May 15, Cook County prosecutors said. Prosecutors said the two men had previously had a sexual relationship.

When Arrington’s girlfriend arrived, she found him bleeding on the ground, but he was able to identify Twine as his attacker, Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Pillsbury said.

Arrington told his girlfriend and police that Twine used the gun that belonged to his girlfriend’s dead mother, Pillsbury said. Twine then fled in a rental car, prosecutors said.

Twine, who was arrested in Arkansas, was originally charged with aggravated battery to a firearm and robbery. But after Arrington died, charges were upgraded.

Investigators found bomb making manuals in Twine’s home, Pillsbury added.

Twine was ordered held in lieu of $900,000 Thursday for murder.
