Man shot in neck along ‘Safe Passage’ route on West Side

A 28-year-old man was shot Sunday night along a Chicago Public Schools’ “Safe Passage” route on the West Side.
The shooting happened about 11:35 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Tripp Avenue in the North Lawndale neighborhood, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The man was shot in the neck and suffered a graze wound to the back, Greer said. He was listed in guarded condition early Monday at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The shooting happened along a Safe Passage route the night before the first day of school for Chicago Public Schools students.
No one was in custody. Area Central detectives were investigating.
