A Texas man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday for soliciting a west suburban girl and possessing child pornography.

Rudolph Figueroa, 46, of Corpus Christi, Texas, claimed to be a 17-year-old boy from Florida when he texted and spoke with a 13-year-old Downers Grove girl he met online, according to a release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office.

Figueroa originally contacted the girl over the Internet when he responded to a YouTube video she had posted and carried on sexually explicit conversations and text message exchanges with her on multiple occasions, according to the state’s attorney’s office. He asked to meet her in person at least once without her parents’ consent.

While investigating his contact with the girl, authorities found images of child pornography in Figueroa’s possession, the state’s attorney’s office said.

Figueroa pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography, a Class 1 felony, and one count of solicitation to meet a child, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

DuPage Circuit Court Judge Robert Kleeman sentenced Figueroa to 10 years in prison Thursday, according to the news release. Figueroa also will be required to register as a lifetime sex offender.
