Man in custody after barricading self in Southwest Side building

A man was in custody Tuesday after he barricaded himself inside a building for more than six hours in the Clearing neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side, police said Tuesday morning.
Police received a report about 11:15 p.m. on Monday that a person was barricaded inside a building in the 6000 block of South Harlem Avenue.
The man was taken into custody about 5:30 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
He had climbed up onto the building’s roof at some point during the situation, although negotiatiors were eventually able to persuade him to come down, Greer said.
