A man was shot and killed in the West Englewood neighborhood Monday night, just two blocks away from the scene of another homicide earlier in the day.
The shooting occurred about 8:50 p.m. in the 1800 block of West Garfield, authorities said. The man, thought to be in his 30s, was dead at the scene, according to Fire Media Affairs. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the death.
Earlier Monday, Cauirece Graham, 28, was shot and killed Monday after an argument in a restaurant in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.
He was walking into the restaurant in the 2000 block of West Garfield about noon when the suspect followed him inside, police said. They exchanged words, then the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Graham in the chest and lower extremities, according to police and fire officials.
Graham was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died about 40 minutes later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The shooter fled on a bicycle and was not in custody Monday evening, police said.
Area South detectives were investigating both fatal shootings.
