A 34-year-old man was in critical condition early Tuesday after an argument turned violent and he was shot in the back in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the city’s Southwest Side.

Police said the 34-year-old was outside, arguing with another man in the 6300 block of South Rockwell Avenue about 11:40 p.m. Monday when the other man pulled out a handgun and opened fire.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in critical condition early Tuesday, police said.
