Police were questioning a man about a stolen vehicle Monday night when he shoved officers and ran to the roof of a Lake View building. The 21-year-old man threatened to jump, but authorities persuaded him to come down.
The incident started about 8 p.m. in the 800 block of West Addison when police officers saw a stolen vehicle in a parking lot, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
As they approached the man to question him, he shoved an officer and ran, Alfaro said.
A SWAT team was called to the scene, and the man was talked into coming down sometime before 10 p.m., officials said. He was not injured.
He was in police custody and charges were pending, Alfaro said.
