At least nine people were wounded in gun violence throughout the city over the weekend, including three men who were shot at the same time in the West Englewood neighborhood early Monday.

The three men were walking in the 1300 block of West 73rd Street about 12:40 a.m. when they “heard shots” and then “felt pain” the men later told investigators, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

One of the victims, a 23-year-old man, was taken in serious condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the back, police said.

The other two -- ages 31 and 22 -- were shot in the legs and taken to separate area hospitals in “stable” condition, police said.

Earlier, about 11:35 p.m., a man was shot by a gunman who walked up and shot him multiple times in the Washington Park neighborhood.

The 41-year-old man was shot twice in the left eye and once in the right leg and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said. Information on the man’s condition was not immediately available.

About 10:15 p.m., a female was shot in the leg in the 4200 bock of North California, police said. She was taken to Illinois Advocate Masonic Medical Center for treatment.

Just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, a 22-year-old man was shot twice in the abdomen in the 12200 block of South Emerald in the West Pullman neighborhood, police said. He went to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

About 3 a.m. Sunday, a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times on the South Side, after he exited his car to run away from a gunman. The man was sitting in his car when a shooter approached him in the 1100 block of West 87th Street, police said. He got out of the car and tried to run away, but the suspect shot him in the wrist, hand and buttocks. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

About 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a 40-year-old woman was shot in her arm near Kedzie and 60th Street in Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said. She was taken to an area hospital.

About 1:30 p.m. Saturday, a 22-year-old man was shot in his arm near Augusta and Pulaski in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Norwegian-American Hospital in good condition.

No one was in custody in any of the shooting as detectives continue to investigate.
