Police have arrested a man they believe offered transportation in the theft of eight school buses stolen and turned into scrap earlier this year, records show.
Angel Bivanco, 19, of Calumet City was arrested Friday and has been charged with several counts of aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle and drug possession, according to police.
Investigators believe Bivanco used his 2004 Buick LeSabre to help with the theft of the school buses owned by Sunrise Transportation. Court records show they searched his vehicle and found eight ounces of suspected marijuana inside in an open graham crackers box.
Police said Bivanco admitted helping with the theft, and Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil ordered him held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
