JOLIET — A man reportedly broke into a woman’s home to rape her at gunpoint Thursday.
The victim told police that she was awakened by 25-year-old Daniel D. Sanders holding a gun to her head, Cmdr. Brian Benton said.
“He then forced her to have sex with him and passed out. She ran downstairs and fled to the neighbor’s with her husband,” Benton said. “Officers arrived to find Sanders passed out in the bedroom with his pants around his ankles and a loaded .45 caliber handgun.”
Benton said the victim called 911 from a neighbor’s house. The woman’s husband was sleeping downstairs, Benton said.
Sanders, of 1309 Pawnee St., was booked into the county jail on charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault, home invasion and unlawful use of a weapon.
