Teen wounded by gunfire on Near West Side

A man was wounded in a shooting on the Near West Side Monday evening.

Police said the 19-year-old man was walking in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street when four males approached from behind and opened fire about 6:02 p.m.

A bullet stuck the teen arm, police said. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in “stable” condition, police said.

After the shooting the attackers fled in an unknown direction, police said.

No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated. Police said they did not know what the motive of the shooting was.
