Man shot to death in Bellwood

A 27-year-old man was shot to death Monday afternoon in west suburban Bellwood.
He was standing outside a vehicle on 22nd Avenue near Washington Boulevard about 3:45 p.m. Monday when he got into an altercation and was shot, said Andre Harvey, director of public safety for the village.
A friend drove him to a local hospital and he was transferred to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he died at 5 p.m., authorities said.
The man’s identity was not released Monday night pending notification of relatives, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
No one was in custody. Bellwood Police were investigating.
