A Waukegan manwas being held on a $50,000 bond after being charged with multiple counts of child pornography as part of a statewide crackdown on Internet porn.
Rudolph Giovanny Dalpiaz-Cruz, 27, was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, according to the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
State investigators, with the assistance of Waukegan Police and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, conducted a search of Dalpiaz-Cruz’s residence in the 1300 block of Golf Road in Waukegan on Wednesday, authorities said. He was arrested after child pornography was found in the home, authorities said.
After a court hearing, Dalpiaz-Cruz was ordered held in the Lake County Jail on a $50,000 bond. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.
“Child pornography has many victims. We will continue to proudly work with Attorney General Madigan’s office in a joint effort to aggressively seek out and prosecute these cases,” State’s Attorney Michael Nerheim said.
Possession of child pornography is a Class 2 felony punishable by three to seven years in prison.
The arrest was part of Operation Glass House, a statewide initiative to apprehend the most-active downloaders and traders of child pornography online, authorities said.
It marked the 41st arrest in the operation, which was launched in 2010.
