A 22-year-old Homewood man was ordered held without bail Saturday, accused of choking, stabbing and beating his mother and then leaving her in a ditch. Blake Springsteen told he’d kill her her because “she ruined his life,” Cook County prosecutors said. After her son beat and choked her at their home in the 3600 block of Flossmoor Road, the woman passed out and came to in the trunk of her own vehicle, prosecutors said. Springsteen then opened the trunk and stabbed her in the neck before leaving her in a ditch in Crete, they said. The 46-year-old woman survived. She suffered cuts and bruises and will need surgery on her hands. Springsteen was spotted several days later, on Thursday, walking on his own block, and was arrested.
