Bond was set $100,000 for Leonardo R. Martinez, 43, of New Lenox, who was charged Friday with driving drunk and causing a crash that killed a 4-year-old girl last fall.
After a five-month investigation, Martinez, who was driving the 2011 Infiniti QX56 involved in the crash, was charged with one felony count of aggravated DUI and two misdemeanor counts of DUI, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s office. He also received two traffic violations for failing to stop at a stop sign and failure to use due care.
The Infiniti was southbound on Millstream Road in unincorporated Seneca Township when it collided with a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lerado that was westbound on Route 176, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. The Infiniti failed to stop for the stop sign, the release said. Both vehicles left the road and struck a guardrail before coming to a stop. The 4-year-old girl, Daniela Gomez, was ejected from the Jeep and died.
Martinez was scheduled to appear in court in Woodstock on March 20.
