Dog shot during North Aurora home invasion

Updated: March 2, 2013 2:50AM

Police were looking for information on a home invasion in which a dog was shot Friday afternoon in North Aurora.

At 1:21 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report that a dog had been shot in a duplex in the 200 block of Laurel Drive. Residents said they heard a knock on the door, but before they could answer, two men kicked the door open and showed a gun, police said.

One of the intruders held the residents at gunpoint while the second went upstairs. The residents’ dog approached one of the men, who shot it three times. The second man came back downstairs with a safe, and both men fled.
