Dog shot during North Aurora home invasion

Updated: March 2, 2013 2:50AM

Police were looking for information on a home invasion in which a dog was shot Friday afternoon in North Aurora.

At 1:21 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report that a dog had been shot in a duplex in the 200 block of Laurel Drive. Residents said they heard a knock on the door, but before they could answer, two men kicked the door open and showed a gun, police said.

One of the intruders held the residents at gunpoint while the second went upstairs. The residentsā€™ dog approached one of the men, who shot it three times. The second man came back downstairs with a safe, and both men fled.
