A cabdriver allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman in northwest suburban Schaumburg early Sunday after picking up the woman and two of her friends at a bar.
The victim was with the two friends when they called for a cab from a Prospect Heights bar early Sunday, Schaumburg police said in a release.
Cabdriver Eric Chung, 29, picked them up in a white Buick Terraza van with the markings “AAA Futura Taxi,” but the women demanded that he stop the van after he “started to act inappropriately,” according the news release.
Two of the women got out of the cab at a red light, but Chung allegedly sped away as the third woman was trying to get out, trapping her in the van against her will, police said.
Her friends immediately called police, and authorities traced the van to an office complex in the 800 block of East Algonquin Road, police said.
Schaumburg officers heard the 24-year-old woman yelling for help as they approached the van about 5:30 a.m. and allegedly caught Chung sexually assaulting the woman, the release said.
Chung, of the 1900 block of Wong Parkway in Chicago, was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, police said.
Chung was scheduled to appear at a bond hearing Thursday at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
