A west suburban pastor who is charged with sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl denied doing that but admitted to police that he raped a family member more than two decades ago, when she was 10, prosecutors said Saturday.

The Rev. Donald R. Jung, 59, of La Grange, was ordered held Saturday on $750,000 bail on a charge of predatory criminal sexual assault, a felony.

Prosecutors said Jung — pastor of the Second Baptist Church in La Grange — assaulted the girl on Feb. 15 and again on Feb. 17.

He was never charged in the assault decades ago that he now has admitted to, prosecutors said.

Cook County Judge Edward Harmening ordered Jung to stay away from anyone under 18 and to surrender his guns and passport.

“That’s not the man I know,” said the Rev. Lynn Lacey, also a minister at the church, who’s worked with him for more than seven years. “He’s an honest person.”

Lacey said she expects the church and its members to support Jung.

“We’re asking that people pray for him and his family,” she said. “The church is standing behind him.”
