A Chicago woman is accused of stabbing and killing her cousin’s cat after a fight with the cousin.

Tish Coleman, 31, was arrested around 8 p.m. Friday at the apartment she and the cousin share on the South Side and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals — a felony — and a misdemeanor count of domestic batter, Chicago Police Officer Laura Kubiak said Saturday.

The women got into an argument that turned into a wrestling match at the apartment in the 6400 block of South Maryland Avenue, Kubiak said.

Police said Coleman left the apartment, and the cousin went outside to find her gone but blood on the stairwell and her year-old, brown-and-white cat bleeding from its left side.

The police stopped Coleman a short distance away, in the 6400 block of South Cottage Grove, Kubiak said. Coleman allegedly had a knife.
