Man killed in Washington Heights shooting


A 24-year-old man was shot to death Monday evening in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

He was on the sidewalk in the 9100 block of South Ada about 5 p.m. Monday when a shooter walked up and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said.

He was shot multiple times, police said.

The man was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Officials withheld his name Monday night pending notification of his relatives.

Area South detectives were investigating, but no one was in custody.
