Mom aids in arrest of man who sought daughter for sex: cops

Bryan E. Woldman, 35, of Plainfield, is being held in Will County Jail in Joliet on $1 million bail, after being arrested by Naperville police for allegedly trying to arrange a sexual tryst with a child.

An alert mother from Naperville is credited with helping police investigate and arrest a man who allegedly used Facebook and other electronic media in an attempt to arrange a sexual tryst with the woman’s 12-year-old daughter.
Bail has been set at $1 million for Bryan E. Woldman, 35, of the 7000 block of Clearwater Drive on the Joliet-Plainfield border. He remains in Will County Jail and faces trial on felony charges of indecent solicitation of a minor, traveling to meet a minor for a sexual encounter and grooming, according to Will County Circuit Court records.
Naperville police on Dec. 21 began investigating Woldman, after a city resident discovered her preteen daughter was communicating with him “via Facebook, cell phone, text, and Skype,” police said Monday in a release.
Members of the department’s High Technology Crimes Unit over the ensuing weeks exchanged “sexually explicit text messages” with Woldman, who believed he was communicating with the girl, the release stated.
Woldman around 7:47 p.m. Friday allegedly traveled from his home to the AMC Showplace Naperville 16 movie theater complex at 95th Street and Route 59 on Naperville’s far southwest side, “where he thought he was meeting the 12-year-old victim for a sexual encounter,” the release continued. He was instead taken into custody by detectives and members of the police department’s Special Operations Group, according to the release.
Records showed Woldman was booked into the jail just before 4 a.m. Saturday. He appeared Monday afternoon in court, and a judge continued his case to March 6.
An examination of court documents indicated Woldman has received numerous traffic tickets in Will, DuPage and Kane counties but has no criminal record.
