A Humboldt Park woman was charged with felony DUI on Monday. She’s accused of driving off after fatally striking a man and a woman who were changing a tire Saturday night.
Delia Aguila, 27, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated DUI causing death in connection with the crash in the 3800 block of West 87th Street, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.
Police said Aguila was driving a 1995 Nissan Quest minivan westbound on 87th about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when she hit a 39-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman who were changing a tire. Aguila continued driving, but witnesses helped police to locate her and the minivan a couple of blocks away, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
William Brunson, of the 8000 block of South Harper, and Victoria R. Means, of Riverdale, died at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Aguila, of the 900 block of North Lawndale, also was charged with two counts of DUI, reckless driving and driving without ever having been issued a license — all misdemeanors. She also was cited for driving without insurance; having alcohol in the vehicle, and failing to render aid, keep inside her lane or reduce her speed.
Aguila was scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Tuesday.
