A member of the Latin Dragon street gang threatened to burn down the garage of a Chicago police officer who was “bothering” his friends, authorities said.
Rey Trevino, 19, of the 13400 block of South Avenue O, was ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bail Sunday by Cook County Judge Israel Desierto. He’s been charged with threatening a public official. Trevino, also known as “Rey-Rey,” allegedly told a witness about his plan to burn down the officer’s garage. Assistant State’s Attorney Terri Gleason said Trevino told the witness the officer’s house has a camera.
Gleason said Trevino told the witness he planned to avoid being seen by the camera by throwing a “cocktail bomb” at the garage. She said the witness realized who Trevino was targeting and told police. Trevino said he planned to burn down the garage because the officer was messing with the Latin Dragon street gang, according to a police report. Trevino is a self-admitted member of the gang, according to that report. Jon Seidel
