An 18-month-old girl was found Thursday morning after the car she was in was stolen in northwest suburban Bensenville.
The girl, Kimberly Delgado, was found safe when someone found the car Thursday morning in a driveway in the 1100 block of Argyle Street as they were leaving for work, Bensenville Police Chief Frank Kosman told reporters. He said Kimberly was reunited with her mother and was being evaluated by paramedics.
“I was there when they were reunited,” Kosman said. “They were very happy.”
The girl was briefly left in a black 2003 Buick in the 900 block of West Irving Park Road when a man stole the vehicle about 12:40 a.m., authorities said.
With the car parked and left running, the mother entered the building and passed a man who walked out and got into the woman’s car, police said. Bensenville Police don’t think the man who stole the car knew the child was inside.
Police were looking for a suspect described as a Hispanic male wearing a red sweater.
