An employee of a candy store on the city’s Southeast Side was arrested Saturday and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
Gloria Estrada was jailed pending a court appearance Sunday.
A search of the store turned up four bags of crack cocaine and 20 smaller bags of cannabis, as well as proceeds from narcotics sales, according to the police, who said they got a search warrant after receiving information that drug sales were taking place inside the candy store in the 3000 block of East 83rd Street.
“It is deplorable that a store of this type was used for drug sales,” 4th District police Lt. Kevin Milmine said.
