A woman was sexually assaulted and robbed near an L stop in the Rogers Park neighborhood early Wednesday.
The attacker confronted the woman about 5:45 a.m. at the Red Line’s Morse station and forced her to a nearby construction site, where he sexually assaulted her, Chicago Police said at a news conference late Wednesday.
The man then stole the woman’s purse and was last seen fleeing south from Lunt on Glenwood Avenue.
The 50-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital, authorities said.
The man was seen loitering in the are — including around the L stop — in the six hours before the attack, Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.
Chicago Transit Authority cameras captured footage of a man in the area around the time of the attack, and police want to question that man.
“Let’s identify this guy and get him . . . in here so detectives can have a word with him,” Zala said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Area North police detectivers at (312) 744-8200.
