Bond was set Sunday at $250,000 for a man who was shot in the back by a security guard during a robbery in the South Chicago neighborhood Thursday evening, police said.
Michael Wilson, of the 9000 block of South Colfax Avenue, was charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault to a security officer, according to a police News Affairs release.
The 31-year-old was in the 8800 block of South Burley Avenue when he was shot about 5:30 p.m., according to the Chicago Fire Media.
A on-duty security guard saw the robbery, announced his office and told Wilson to drop his weapon, police said. Wilson pointed his gun at the guard, who fearing for his life and the safety of others, shot Wilson.
Wilson was initially taken to Advocate Christ Medical in serious condition but later transferred to Northwestern Hospital, police said.
There were no other injuries and Wilson’s gun was recovered, police said.
Wilson is next scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 14.
