This long Thanksgiving weekend has seen a man stabbed to death, four men fatally shot and at least 20 people wounded by gunfire.

Billie R. Daniels died Sunday, a little more than 24 hours after he was mortally wounded in the Englewood neighborhood Saturday, authorities said.

Police say the 25-year-old Daniels was at a home in the 5500 block of South Emerald Avenue when he answered a knock at the front door, When Daniels answered the door, an unknown gunman shot him once in the head about 6:50 p.m., police said.

Daniels was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was put on life-support, authorities said. He died at the hospital the following day.

On Friday Christopher Jacobs, 19, died after he was shot the previous day in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, authorities said. About 1 p.m. Thursday, police received a report of gunshots fired in the 4900 block of South Seeley Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found Jacobs lying down in the street, police said. Jacobs was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he died the next day, authorities said.

About the same time Jacobs was shot Thursday, Jonathan Belton, 25, was also fatally shot in the 5500 block of South Albany Avenue, authorities said. Belton, of the 900 block of South Austin Boulevard, was dead on the scene.

Wednesday evening, when the long holiday kicked off, 55-year-old William Terry was stabbed to death after intervening in an argument between a married couple.

Authorities say Demetrius Jackson, 32, was arguing with his wife near their home in the 10300 block of South Forest Avenue when he allegedly stabbed Terry multiple times with a kitchen knife about 7:11 p.m.

Jackson initially fled, but has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to police News Affairs. He was scheduled to appear Sunday in bond court.

Terry, of the 14100 block of South Tracy Avenue in Riverdale, was declared dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said.

On Sunday morning, two men were wounded -- one fatally -- in a drive-by shooting on the Near West Side. The shooting happened in the 2300 block of West Lake Street about 8:04 a.m., police said. Both victims, whose ages were not immediately known, were taken to Stroger Hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead, according to police.

Among the 20 people wounded in shootings since Wednesday afternoon was a 15-year-old girl shot in the head.

The teenager was inside her home in the 1100 block of West 104th Street when shots were fired from outside and a bullet hit her about 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, police said. She was listed in serious condition at Christ Medical Center.
