Two police officers from south suburban Markham — including the son of the village’s mayor — have been charged with stealing thousands of dollars from a local business owner.
Darryl Starks, 38, and Andre Webb, 41, both full-time Markham police officer, were each charged with armed violence, theft of property over $300 and official misconduct for allegedly stealing cash from a warehouse in Dolton, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.
Both were charged as a result of a joint investigation by the state’s attorney’s office, FBI and Illinois State Police. The alleged crimes took place while the officers were acting in an official capacity during a police investigation in 2010, prosecutors said.
Webb is the son of Markham Mayor David Webb, Jr., according to the state’s attorney’s office.
