Man dies after getting shot, crashing vehicle

A motorist who was shot in the shoulder before crashing into a parked vehicle in the West Side Austin neighborhood Thursday night has died, authorities said.
Joshua Albert, 26, of west suburban Westmont, was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County about 9:29 p.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Albert crashed his vehicle into a parked vehicle in the 5100 block of West Thomas Street about 6:30 p.m. after he had been shot in the shoulder, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. Police initially said the motorist crashed into a tree.
Additionally, police initially believed Albert, of the 200 block of East Quincy Street, had been shot in the head.
Area North detectives are investigating.
