Man charged in River West home invasion, sexual assault

A 33-year-old Lincoln Park man has been charged with breaking into the home of a woman in the River West neighborhood last week and sexually assaulting her.
Derrick Baldwin, of the 2200 block of North Halsted Street, has been charged with one count of home invasion and one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault, according to police. The charges were approved Thursday about 9 a.m.
Baldwin was arrested after being identified as the man who unlawfully entered the residence about 5 a.m. on Oct. 28, attacked the female resident and sexually assaulted her, police said.
Baldwin is expected in bond court on Friday.
