A man was shot multiple times after he drove to a gas station in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side Wednesday night, police said.
The 23-year-old man was behind the wheel of a car stopped at a gas station located in the 7900 block of South Ashland Avenue when someone approached him on foot and opened fire about 9 p.m., said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
Despite being hit in the chest in the leg, the man was able to drive away, Greer said. Paramedics found him near the intersection of 79th and Bishop, Greer said, and the man was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Area South detectives believe the shooting was gang-related, Greer said, adding that police have made no arrests as of early Thursday.
