Man shot in ear during carjacking on Near South Side

A man was shot in the ear during a carjacking Tuesday night in the Bronzeville neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. in the 400 block of East 33rd Street, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
A man was walking to his car with another person when two offenders approached, one with a gun, and took the keys to the man’s silver 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, Greer said.
The owner of the car was not injured, but his companion was shot in the ear, Greer said, adding that the 25-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in “stable” condition.
No one is in custody, and Area Central detectives are investigating.
