Woman killed, boy shot in Humboldt Park shooting

A woman died and a teenage boy was wounded after being shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side Monday night.

Elizabeth Pabon, 36, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital after she was shot in the chest in the 1600 block of Spaulding about 6:20 p.m. Monday night, authorities said.

Pabon, of the 5200 block of West Armitage Avenue, died from her wounds at the hospital just minutes later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A 15-year-old boy, who police allege has a gang affiliation, was also shot nearby at the same time, police said. The boy was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
