DCFS investigating death of 9-day-old infant

State child welfare officials are investigating allegations of neglect in connection with the death of a 9-day-old girl in Chicago.

Arianna Anderson died Saturday at her parents’ home in the 3000 block of South Ada Street, while she slept in her parents’ bed, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Arianna was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and pronounced dead at 5:12 a.m., the examiner’s office said.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating “allegations of neglect,” said department spokesman Jimmy Whitlow. The department has had no prior contact with the family, he said.
