A Montgomery police officer was seriously injured early Saturday when he was struck by a car driven by a man who was later charged with driving under the influence.

Montgomery Patrol Sgt. Adam Kuncl was struck by the vehicle when he responded to the 700 block of Oakton Avenue for a call of shots fired, police said.

Kuncl was taken to a hospital to be treated and monitored for his serious injuries.

Kendall J. Collier, the 18-year-old driver who allegedly struck the sergeant, was charged with one count of aggravated DUI. More charges were pending, police said.
