Two people were killed and two others wounded early Tuesday when the occupants of a vehicle opened fire into the car the victims were sitting in in the Far South Side West Pullman neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 2:37 a.m. in the 400 block of West 120th Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines. The victims were sitting in a car when a dark-colored SUV pulled alongside and someone inside opened fire.

Quiltavia Patterson, 25, of the 11700 block of South Stewart Avenue, was dead on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. And 38-year-old Jermaine Carter of the 400 block of West 120th St. was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 3:42 a.m.

Patterson suffered a gunshot to the neck and Carter suffered four gunshot wounds to the torso, police said.

A 40-year-old man was also taken to Advocate Christ and a 22-year-old woman was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to Fire Media Affairs. Both were listed in serious condition.

Police said the 40-year-old man suffered four gunshot wounds to the abdomen and one to his left arm, and the woman suffered a gunshot wound to the left hip.

Another 22-year-old woman suffered a “medical emergency” and was taken in stable condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital, according to Fire Media. Unconfirmed dispatch reports indicate she was suffering from shock or anxiety.

No one was in custody as of noon Tuesday and Area South detectives are investigating.
