8-year-old girl escapes kidnapping attempt in Lawndale

Police are searching for a man who attempted to kidnap an 8-year-old girl Wednesday in the Lawndale neighborhood.
The man grabbed the girl by her arm and attempted to puller her toward a garage about 5:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of West 27th Street, according to an alert from Area Central detectives.
The girl was able to free herself and run to safety, police said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with a mustache and olive complexion, about 30 to 35 years old, police said. He is between 130 and 150 pounds and 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7.
He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and had a general dirty appearance, police said.
