A Humboldt Park man stands accused of fatally shooting a man who was dating his ex-girlfriend, police said early Wednesday.
Jerome L. Green, 31, was charged with first-degree murder and is expected to appear in bond court on Wednesday, according to police News Affairs.
Green, of the 900 block of North Lawndale Avenue, allegedly shot to death Delon Brandon, 25, early Monday on the Southwest Side, police said.
Brandon and the girlfriend were at a residence in the 4500 block of South Lavergne Avenue when Green allegedly showed up and tried to get inside, police said.
The couple refused to allow Green inside, authorities said, and Green allegedly began pounding on the doors and windows while screaming, police said.
Green eventually drove off in a vehicle, police claim. Believing the ex-boyfriend had left, Brandon exited the residence about 12:10 a.m., police said. As Brandon got into his own vehicle, Green allegedly appeared and shot him several times in the head and chest, police said.
Brandon, of another residence in the 4500 block of South Lavergne Avenue, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 1:05 a.m., authorities said.
Green was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, police said.
